Columbia Integrated Health Centre is excited to provide services in Clinical Psychotherapy & Clinical Counseling, to
patients in the downtown New Westminster area along Columbia Street and
surrounding communities such as Queensborough, Burnaby, Coquitlam,
Surrey, & Vancouver.
“Talk Therapy” is commonly indicated to address problems with emotions (such as anxiety, frustration, depression), behavior (such as avoidance, “stuckness”, relationship conflict) and thinking (such as poor concentration, self-criticism, worry).
It is a collaborative effort between therapist and patient; it supports change, relief from pain, and is very much geared to increased wellbeing.
Talk therapy provided at CIH is grounded in principles of neuroscience. It is strengths-based, geared to identifying and developing individual capacity to liberate the mind’s natural drive to heal. Elements of effective models of therapy/counseling/coaching such as Cognitive Behavioral, Narrative, Mindfulness-based and Interpersonal therapies are applied in a customized treatment plan.
Outcomes often involve increased emotional regulation, balanced energy, a more relaxed and positive outlook, clearer thinking and renewed freedom to pursue personal goals.
“The human mind is a relational and embodied process that regulates the flow of energy and information. [The practice of] ‘mindsight’ permits us to direct the flow of energy and information toward integration. Integration is at the heart of wellbeing”. Neurobiologist and Psychiatry professor Daniel J. Siegel, M.D.
